Wordy Wednesday - National Pet Month Part 4

From 2 April to 2 May 2011, thousands of people in the UK will be celebrating life with their pets. Why? Because it is National Pet Month! A fantastic month for cats, dogs and other little furry animals everywhere!

For my last installment this month to celebrate my life with my girls and to promote National Pet Month I thought I'd go through the second 5 top 10 tips for healthy happy pets this week, to see if I'm doing things right. So...

6. Protect against disease. Your vet can provide you with advice. >>> No problems, Nishiko and Xanthe have an annual check up and vaccines ever August! Check!

7. Prevent unwanted litters and neuter you pet when appropriate. >>> Well as most of you know already, the girls have had their Ladygardenectomy in March of this year... I'm doing good! Check!

8. Groom your pet regularly. >>> Nishiko adores being groomed with a brush. Xanthe on the other hand is more reluctant so plenty of strokes is required to get rid of unwanted fur around the house. she loves it! Check...

9. control your pet and ensure it is properly identified. >>> The girls are mainly indoor kitizens and will only go outside with their harnesses on. Mind you make sure that your pets are micro chipped just in case they escape. Unfortunately I have failed this important point as the girls have yet to be microchipped... Must get this down later in the year...

10. Take out pet insurance for dogs, cats, rabbits and horses to cover against unexpected veterinary fees and third party liability... Oh no! I must get some insurance! This is my second fail :(

I've enjoyed National Pet Month. Here is a selection of baby photos from when Nishiko and Xanthe were 14 weeks old. enjoy :)

Don is just being silly as usual!

Photo Shoot

Today we had to go to a professional photographer to have our photos taken professionally and not by Mummy so that we can enter a pet competition which will take place in May.

Nishiko was very excited and kept waking Mummy up early this morning, although when we got there she went all shy and kept following Mummy around the photo shoot room.

I was ok. Mummy warmed me up for the photo shoot this morning by taking these pictures:

Aren't I purrfect? Mind you at the professional photograph I fouond the flash lights rather off putting and started hissing at them.

New friends and RIP Sweet Praline

Can you see Mr Black and White down there?

He lives downstairs with Mr Black Cat, who My Dear Xanthe and Me have seen a couple of times in the Communal Gardens.
My Dear Xanthe does not like them at all, she keeps hissing at them both when ever we see them. I don't mind them though, I would like to get to know them more. Mummy says that next time she sees Mr Black Cat and Mr Black and White's Daddy, she ask him for their names.

Today is a very sad day though. Sweet Praline has had to leave us and go to the Rainbow Bridge. Mummy created a picture in honour of the Legendary Swee Praline. If you want to post it on your pages, please feel free to do so.

Wordy Wednesday -Nope Saturday! Oops

From 2 April to 2 May 2011, thousands of people in the UK will be celebrating life with their pets. Why? Because it is National Pet Month! A fantastic month for pets everywhere!

Yes, I know that I am late posting this and the girls have repeatedly told me off for it. But I had a very good reason why. It was my Nan's birthday on Wednesday and I went out with her and my Mum to celebrate.

Also I had to arrange for the girls - and they don't know about this yet - to see a professional photographer so that they can be entered into a pet photo contest at the end of the month! I bet they are going to be so excited! Their visit is on Tuesday :)

National Pet Month have 10 points you can follow to ensure that your pet(s) are healthy and happy pets. I thought I'd go through the first 5 this week and then the last 5 next week, to see if I'm doing things right. So...

1. Think carefully before getting a pet and learn about its special requirements. >>> Well Don and I spent a few weeks researching before actually giving Xanthe and Nishiko their forever home with us. All is mentioned in the very early posts of KCC way back in 2009. So check!

2. Ensure your pet is sociable and well trained. >>> *cough* Well trained? Does this include weeing on the bed to inform one's Mummy that the litter tray needs cleaning? Or nudging one's Mummy awake and not leaving her alone until food has been delivered to the food bowl? I think it does... Check!

3. Proved a nutritious and well balanced diet. >>> Check! Cat meat, cat biscuits, fresh meat and tuna!

4. Provide suitable housing and bedding. >>> They have the full run of the flat, including a number of boxes and cat beds - including our own. Check!

5. Clean up after your pet and worm it regularly. >>> We always do! Makes mental note - must worm the girls soon...

I love National Pet Month, it give me the chance to skim through Xanthe and Nishiko's baby photos and share them with you all! Here is a selection from when they were 12 weeks old. enjoy :)

Forget Us Not

Did you know that Mummy has been too busy to post on Wednesday and Thursday?

Yes. Mummy has not had enough time to tell everybody how much she loves us on her Wordy Wednesday post for National Pet Month!

It makes you think if she adores us or not!

Message to  Mummy: Don't stop thinking about us!

Do you think she got the Message?
Zzzz...
OK...

Nishiko and Xanthe

P.S: Note from Mummy - I shall be doing my National Pet Month post of Saturday this week instead of the usual Wednesday.

Trying to guess what Daddy was wearing in yesterdays post was too easy! MOL... But he did look funny!

Here's us playing with our new toy, the Tunnel!

Silly Daddy! MOL!

Daddy must have forgotten that any photo Mummy takes there is a good chance that it will be shown on our blog. So when he asked her to take this photo, do you think he considered the above fact? MOL...

Have a guess at what he is wearing. We'll show you what it is in tomorrows post!

Jealous? Not!

Mummy only showed you photos of her and Nishiko on Wednesday's post... I'm not jealous... well maybe a little... But Mummy said that today's post can be all about Me! Meow! So here are some photos of Me with my new harness on, out and about in our community garden.

We have seen a black cat in our community garden. He wears a red collar and I do not like him. He smells different and so I will sit in the grass and growl and hiss at him when he tries to com near to Me or Nishiko.

There are a lot of interesting smells in the community garden. Mummy says that I blend in to the brick work. But I'm not sure what she means by that.

I like to just sit at times and keep an eye on my surroundings. You can see that my fur is growing back on the bold patch where I had my Ladygardenectomy.

I like sunny days. We have had a few but now the sun has disappeared behind the clouds. I hope it comes back soon!

Wordy Wednesday - Celebrating National Pet Month Week 2

From 2 April to 2 May 2011, thousands of people in the UK will be celebrating life with their pets. Why? Because it is National Pet Month!

It is said that pets are a great benefit to their owner's health. They can help us heal on an emotional, physical and mental level; and it is beleived that they can also help us to fight disease and assist us in coping with chronic conditions.

I appreciate the time I spend with Xanthe and Nishiko. They are my little healers, having suffered from frequent migraines and bouts of depression, amongst other aches and pains, they would always be there looking after me, sitting on my lap or snuggling up to me on the bed, putting a smile back on my face when I've been at my worst.

Here are a few pictures of Nishiko doing what they do best... making me smile! Lol...

To celebrate National Pet Month with me, why not use Wordy Wednesday for the next four weeks to tell everyone how your precious Kitizens, Woofies and other Furries have enriched your life?

What is Bengali up to?

This is Bengali, he's been my furiend since kittenhood. As you can see he is taking a look at my new favourite toy, as mentioned in Friday's post 'I'm Ninja Nishi'. There is a treat still left in my ball!

What are you up to Bengali? You can't fit in my ball!

He's jealous because I spend too much time with my ball and now he won't let me have the last treat in side it!

How annoying!

Tweeting at Twitter

Mummy spent most of the weekend trying to find our Twitter page. She lost it. Couldn't remember the email address or password. After 2 days she finally figured it out and we are now back, tweeting on Twitter!

I'm Ninja Nishi!

I'm so clever. Mummy says that I am a Ninja at times. Ninja Nishi!

Mummy got Me, I mean My Dear Xanthe and Me a new toy last week and I'm really clever with it. My Dear Xanthe hasn't managed to fathom it out yet. It's a ball with a hole and inside the ball Mummy puts our treats. At first I was thinking 'why are you locking away our treat in a ball? But then I started rolling it about on the floor and a treat came out. I rolled it again and again and I got more treats. The ball gives me treats for playing with it. So now it's my favourite toy! I asked Mummy to make a movie because I want to share it with all my Kitizen Furiends...

What do you think?

Wordy Wednesday

From 2 April to 2 May 2011, thousands of people up and down the UK will be celebrating life with their pets, spreading the word on responsible pet ownership or raising money for their favourite charity in fun-filled events. Why? Because it is National Pet Month!

Our lives have been enriched by our gorgeous girls, Nishiko and Xanthe, since they first arrived together into our home as 7 week old kittens back in July 2009... Here are parts of the very first videos we took of them. Nishiko was sound asleep in their bed while Xanthe was wide awake, keeping us up rather late that first evening with them...

To celebrate National Pet Month with me, why not use Wordy Wednesday for the next four weeks to tell everyone how your precious Kitizens, Woofies and other Furries have enriched your life?

Clowning Around?

This is a photo of Me, Mummy and Daddy from last week, when I had The Big Cone on the day before it came off. Mummy and Daddy were trying to cheer me up but as you can see I wasn't too impressed with Daddy's clowning around...

So when he left the bedroom, I decided to curl up on Mummy's back and listen while she was read 'Your Cat' Magazine to Me.

Movie Monday! Yay!

It's been a couple of weeks since we had a movie on the blog - due to our Ladygardenectomies, Mummy wanted to concentrate on getting us both better so that we could get blogging as soon as possible!

Good Patient, Bad Patient

Meow to All!

I'm back! Purrs...

Mummy and Daddy have done a very good job of being Mummy Nurse and Daddy Doctor. They have looked after me well despite Mummy worrying about me, Daddy was very patient. But they both thought that I was a worse Kitizen Patient than My Dear Xanthe... I wonder why?

I was very scared and didn't understand how the Garden Gnome could have left me with such a nasty looking scar and the V.E.T. is just a horrible place to go to and I had to go three times! Plus Xanthe was having a go at me for smelling really nasty. But I couldn't help it and I apologised to her that I had treated her in the same way when she had The Cone on.

The Cone... What a nasty thing it is and I had three of them!

The Tiny Cone is the one that the V.E.T. put on me despite my fight for them not to. They told Mummy that as soon as I was awake I was messing around with my wound... It was horrible! They did not do a great job and it was all bumpy and very very sore!

The Cone - this is the one that Xanthe had when she came back from her Ladygardenectomy. It was just bearable but I got my mouth stuck under it one night when I was trying to clean my neck and Mummy had to help Me get it off. We were both in a panic about it but then...

The Large Cone was the final enemy! I could not get it off, I had more difficulty eating and drinking and so I spent most of the time cuddling up to Mummy and Daddy on the bed.

I am so happy that all of that is over now and I can be my self again.
